If you are looking forward to a leisurely getaway, then it is an ideal place where you can enjoy riverside strolls, nature walks and birdwatching while enjoying warm hospitality in the cosy homestays.
You can expect digital detox, birdwatching and lush forests from Bidhyang. I went on a trip to Bidhyang, where it felt like time had slowed down, surrounded by sweet bird songs and mist curling over the serene river.
Bidhyang is a quaint settlement in the Kalimpong district of West Bengal, India, perched in the Himalayan laps at an elevation of about 3000 feet amidst lush greenery and a serene River. It is an ideal destination for peace-seekers amidst nature’s tranquillity. The river banks and stunningly decorated misty valleys create an ideal set-up for strolls, with the diverse flora adding to its charm.

The moderate altitude of Bidhyang makes it an all-year-round off-beat beauty, and can be visited in any season. However, some seasons can enhance your experience, such as between October- April. The weather remains pleasant with clear skies, and the valley appears vibrant in the shades of pink and red with blooming flowers all around. Monsoon may look lush green; however, it is advised to travel with caution during this season due to the risk of slippery roads and landslides.
I went on a trip to Bidhyang in early winter, where the forest became alive with the sweet chisping of birds and peaceful crisp air, which made it feel like a concert of nature.

The distance between these exotic villages and Bidhyang is about 30 km. Lava houses several exotic Himalayan birds, Neora Valley National Park and Lava Monastery. You will get to witness the stunning sunrise view from Rishyap.
